WWE Games - MOPOST: An update to the subreddit rules

MOPOST: An update to the subreddit rules

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 11:07 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I just wanted to take a moment to address some posts that have been made over the last 24 hours or so.

Obviously, most will have by now seen that Patrick Gilmore, who is the new executive producer for WWE2K, tweeted about browsing /r/WWEGames and potentially reaching out to content creators on the subreddit.

Since then, there have been some posts talking directly to him, some even titled "Dear Patrick". We want to be clear that this isn't the appropriate place for these posts, and posts of this nature will be removed.

We absolutely encourage you to post and discuss the things and improvements you'd like to see in the game, however at the end of the day this subreddit isn't affiliated with 2K, and isn't a direct channel for communication with them.

I also wanted to briefly address the Justin Leeper situation. You'll have seen stickied to the top of the subreddit a poll asking the community to make a decision on banning his videos from being posted here, due to the questions surrounding the legitimacy of his leaks, and his insider status.

The debate over his legitimacy has kicked up some toxicity within the community, with some people resorting to unnecessary insults and name calling.

As of the time of writing this post, the results are as follows:

Option A) Allow Justin Leeper/ViolentLee videos to be posted - 195 votes

    Option B) Don't allow his videos until he's a proven insider - 229 votes

So the ban on Justin Leeper's videos will remain in effect.

And please allow us to remind you that insults, name calling, and toxic behaviour are not welcome on this subreddit.

If you are asked by a moderator to chill out and be respectful, and you are unwilling to do so, you will be banned for 30 days. If you have to be banned more than once, then it will be permanent, and it will not be lifted. Please note that attempting to circumvent a subreddit ban with an alt account is against reddit rules, and could lead to a further site wide ban.

With all that said, the subreddit growing to the size it has and getting on to 2K's radar wouldn't have been possible without the community that are active here.

As someone who grew up with nothing but obscure wrestling forums to go to, I truly believe this has become one of the best online WWE gaming communities out there, so please keep doing what you're doing ❤️

    Thanks,

    The /r/WWEGames Modteam

    Removed features/modes in THQ games

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 11:46 PM PDT

I think most of us can agree that THQ had the better library of games compared to 2K (HCTP, SvR 2006, SvR 2007 etc) but did anyone else find it frustrating how THQ would develop these games? A lot of features and modes in HCTP aren't there in the later SvR games for example.

They liked to introduce a bunch of "new" content that would only last a few games. Lets look at some features:

    • Create-A-Championship (Introduced in the first SvR game. Removed in SvR 2009)
    • Buried Alive match (Introduced in SvR 2006. Removed in SvR 2009)
    • GM mode (Introduced in SvR 2006. Removed in SvR 2009)
    • Season mode (Introduced in... the first Smackdown game? Removed in SvR 2009)
    • Ability to go backstage during matches (Don't know which game this was introduced, but this was in Smackdown Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes the Pain. You used to be able to go backstage in Hardcore matches but this was removed in the first SvR game.)
    • Ability to fight within the crowd (Introduced in SvR 2007. Removed in SvR 2009)

See a pattern here? SvR 2009 may have been the worst when it came to the cut content. The modes that go on to replace them were inferior in my opinion (Season Mode/GM mode were better than Road to WrestleMania/Stripped-down Career mode)

They actually had a good streak going from 2010 to WWE '13 when it comes to not removing features and still adding new elements. The only other thing I could recall was the removal of over 400 MOVES in SvR 2011 with the excuse being they weren't "realistic enough"

Say what you will about 2K, but I think the biggest problem with the current games is stagnation. It's good that they aren't removing modes, but they aren't doing much to evolve them either.

    WWE GM Mode (Concept Proposal)

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 07:34 PM PDT

This is mainly a concept based on my fav game mode in which I have always wanted to play on NEW WWE games sadly, they left it off ever since '07 (SD vs. RAW 2008). From exp, I believe lots of people who played GM mode on old games found some significant flaws, especially the no. of matches that can be booked at WrestleMania (5 matches, and ONE rivalry from each brand ONLY smh) So, I'll be expressing my thoughts on how the next GM Mode should be like and feel free to comment about your thoughts :)

Firstly, I would like to have NXT as optional brand, which allows player to choose whether NXT is 'ON' or 'OFF' (I've always been a fan of having the traditional two-brand feud between RAW & SD, but it's always good to have an option considering some player would to have a 3-branded feud like the one in SvR 2008)

    #1 - Intro

    • Players would be given $25,000,000 instead of $10,000,000, since the roster are bigger and guys like Cena, Undertaker, HHH are legends now.
    • Rosters size: 20-30
    • Updated championships (obviously) eg: the Women's championship were only available on RAW back then.
    • Option to have promos in PPVs.
    • Option to change a match to segments or promo.
    • Keep the same no. of fans for each brand after the following year's WrestleMania. (not revert to original 5 million fans like previous GM Mode games every time a season ended)
    • NXT will be the free agency for unpicked superstars during the draft. (had NXT set 'OFF')
    • Women's tag team championships, Cruiserweight champonship will not be available to keep the game balanced.

    As usual:

    • 5 million fans at the start.
    • Draft begins after WrestleMania.
    • Superstars morale.
    • Fatigue & injuries.

    #2 - No. of matches

    • 6 matches for normal shows and PPVs (with option to add 2 more to utilize the whole roster)
    • Summerslam: 12 matches
    • Survivor Series: 7 matches
    • Royal Rumble: 8 matches
    • WrestleMania: 15 matches (HOLY CRAP!!)

    Now, let's talk about it..

    #3 - PPV structures

8 non-Big 4 PPV (4 for each brands). First PPV event post-WrestleMania belongs to the GM who gets the first overall pick during the draft which is random.

For instance, SmackDown GM got the first overall pick.

    - May: Payback (SmackDown)

    - June: Money In The Bank (Raw)

    • COMPULSORY : 2 Money In The Bank ladder matches (Men's & Women's)

    - July: Battleground (SmackDown)

    - September: Clash Of Champions (Raw)

    - October: Hell In A Cell (SmackDown)

    • COMPULSORY : Hell In A Cell match

    - December: TLC (Raw)

    • COMPULSORY : TLC match

    - February: Elimination Chamber (SmackDown)

    • COMPULSORY : Elimination Chamber match

    - March: Fastlane (Raw)

In a nutshell, both brands will have the 2 gimmick PPVs (MiTB, HIAC, TLC, E.Chamber) and 2 PPVs that can be booked freely.

The following year after WrestleMania, the ownership of the PPVs will change. E.g: Raw will get Payback, Smackdown will have Money In The Bank etc.

    SummerSlam

    • 12 MATCHES ( 6 FOR EACH BRAND )
    • Matches are in interval between brands.
    • The brand with more fans before Summerslam will take the main event spot.

    Survivor Series

    • 7 MATCHES ( SmackDown vs. Raw )

    Example:

    Match 1 Interpromotional Singles match
Match 2 Interpromotional Mixed Tag match
Match 3 SD Tag champs vs. Raw Tag champs
Match 4 SD Women's champ vs. Raw Women's champ
Match 5 WWE vs. Universal (or) US vs. Intercontinental
    Match 6 Women's 5 vs 5
    Main Event Men's 5 vs 5
    • The winning brand will be rewarded 1 million fans.

    * For Match 5, player can choose to have either of the two match. This is to free up one of their champions to be included in the Men's 5 vs 5 Survivor Series match. Player can also have both match by having one of the matches in Match 1, if the player refuses to put any champion in the Men's 5 vs 5 match.

    Royal Rumble

    • 8 MATCHES ( 3 MATCHES FOR EACH BRAND, 2 RUMBLES )
    • Winners of the Royal Rumble matches will face the champions of their respective brand.

    WrestleMania

    • 15 MATCHES, EXCLUDING 2 PRE-SHOW ( 6 MATCHES FOR EACH BRAND, 3 INTERPROMOTIONAL MATCHES ) AND IT'S GONNA BE A HELL OF A LONG SHOW.

Pre-Show 1 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
    Pre-Show 2 Women's Battle Royal

    * The brand that will take the opening and main event match depends on which brand the winner of the Men's Royal Rumble match is from.

For example, a Raw superstar won the Men's Royal Rumble match. The following would be how the WrestleMania scheduled card would look like:

    Schedule Brand/Match Type
    Match 1 Raw
    Match 2 SmackDown
    Match 3 SmackDown
Match 4 - Interpromotional Match #1 Falls Count Anywhere match
    Match 5 Raw
    Match 6 Raw
    Match 7 SmackDown
Match 8 - Interpromotional Match #2 Steel Cage match
    Match 9 SmackDown
    Match 10 Raw
***Match 11 (Women's Royal Rumble winner) Raw
Match 12 - Interpromotional Match #3 Boneyard a.k.a Buried Alive match
    ***Match 13 SmackDown
    Match 14 SmackDown
Main Event (Men's Royal Rumble winner) Raw

The card will change accordingly had a SmackDown superstar won the Men's Royal Rumble match.

*** Match 11 will be pitting the Women's Royal Rumble match winner against the champion.

Had a Raw female superstar won the Rumble, the card will look like above. Had a SmackDown female superstar won the Rumble, Match 11 will be taken by SmackDown, and Match 13 will be taken by Raw.

Comment down the match types for the interpromotional matches that you think are far better that I proposed!

    • The brand that wins the interpromotional battle, can exempt 3 superstars from the upcoming draft.
    • 20 superstars will be drafted (10 from each brand).

    #5 - NXT set 'ON'

    • PPVs (TakeOvers) will take place on the Big 4 weekends (as in real life).
    • NXT will not be at Summerslam.

    Survivor Series

    • Instead of calling it Survivor Series, it will be Triple Threat Series (lol)
    • All matches will a 3-way match

    Royal Rumble

    • Each Royal Rumble matches will feature 10 superstars from NXT, which means all 3 brands will have 10 superstars for each Rumbles.

    WrestleMania

    • WrestleMania will feature 3 matches from NXT brand. Each match will be scheduled take place before the 3 interpromotional matches between Raw and SmackDown.

Regardless if an NXT superstar would go on to win either or both of the Royal Rumble matches, the opening and main event match still belong to the brand that has more fans before WrestleMania, just like Summerslam. This the the best choice to keep the game balanced.

    • Sadly, in this case NXT will not main event WrestleMania.

    • Instead of 10 superstars jumping ship to another brand, the number of drafted superstars for each brand will be 8.

Just like in ECW SvR '08, it will be difficult for NXT GM to become the GM Of The Year. But, anything's a possibility...

Turning NXT 'ON' would be complicated and challenging for some players, but if challenge is what a player is looking for, go for it! :))

#6 - GM Of The Year award criteria

    • It will be extremely unfair if the GM Of The Year is presented to the GM that has the most fans after WrestleMania. It is almost impossible for the GM of NXT (had NXT being set 'ON') to win the GM Of The Year award considering NXT has only 5 PPVs and very few spots in the Big 4 PPV which excludes Summerslam. Perhaps, the best chance for NXT GM to win the award is winning at Survivor Series. Unfair, eh?

So, I've broken down all the realistic and fair criterias to which GM deserves the award.

    Criteria (Percentage) Explaination
Fans Support (30%) The no. of fans tuning in to the show.
Consistency (25%) The capability to prevent the show from having an empty card.
Creativity (25%) Unique match card and high-rated matches.
Honesty (20%) The tendency to NOT slander other General Manager(s) in promos.

    Fair and challenging enough, right?

    Rewards:

    • The GM Of The Year can manually select 5 superstars from any brand for the post-WrestleMania draft.
    • $2,000,000 cash.

    #7 - Superstars' popularity

Here, I'll be making a debate or two.

Quite frankly, I DISAGREE about having popularity on superstars and I'm pretty some of you agree with me. In my opinion, popularity doesn't make any sense at all. From exp, I've had lots of jobbers (Charlie Haas, Chris Masters, Tajiri from SvR '06 & SvR '07) who had their popularity skyrocketed to 80+ and even 90+. At one point, I had Chris Masters having 99 POPULARITY and Undertaker having 95 POPULARITY!! On top of that, popularity affects the match rating ENTIRELY. No matter how good or bad the superstars are in real life it doesn't matter because as long as the superstar has high popularity, they would be delivering 4 or 5 star matches and that's just stupid. Can you believe I had Carlito vs. Chris Masters 5-STAR MATCH, while Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle is only worth 3.5 Stars due to popularity??!! No disrespect to Masters and Carlito, but the popularity system is TERRIBLE and WRONG.

So, I came up with a small idea.

Popularity should be replaced with: "CONDITION"

To me, this is the best idea I can come up with. 5 scales of conditon are:

    Scale Rating
    BAD *
    FINE **
    OK ***
    GOOD ****
    BEST *****

When a superstar's condition is at "BAD" it is more likely that the match would be around 1 star and etc.. However, that's not the case.. Cuz in real life, guys like HBK still manage to put on one hell of a show despite being injured (like at WrestleMania 14 vs. Austin). Therefore, this is where the superstars' OVERALL RATING comes in to play (MAKES PERFECT SENSE RIGHT??). If a superstar has high OVR, he/she can still deliver a promising match around 3 stars or even 4.

What about superstars with low OVR and is at "BAD" condition? Now this is where MATCH TYPE/STIPULATION becomes a factor (AGAIN, MAKES PERFECT SENSE RIGHT?). But, always watch out for the fatigue level and exaggerate things.

Bear in mind, when superstar is at "BAD" condition, they have high tendency to get injured.

In a nutshell, it's all fair and square than the popularity system. :)

This way, the following problems can be solved.

    • Bad match ratings due to popularity.
    • CAW low popularity (created wrestler like Chris Benoit, CM Punk is at 20 popularity is insane)
    • Unrealistic matches.

    #8 - Rivalries

As for rivalries, I actually don't know what to do about it. From previous GM Mode series in SvR, rivalries increase match ratings and affect superstars' popularity. At the same time, the same superstars will be involved in the same match literally every week. It's kinda bland, you know. Since the idea is to change popularity to a new system (condition), rivalries are not as necessary as it was and it's not compulsory anymore but are still quite important.

So, tell me guys what to you think? Should it be ignored or what?

    COMMENT DOWN BELOW :D

Feel free to comment about the idea of this GM Mode concept! PeAcE! :)))
