    2K22 Idea: Limb Targeting system improvement

    You remember the old limb targeting system in games like WWE 13, where they had transitional animations, such as wrenching the opponent's arms or going behind them. Well, I have a few ideas to improve today's limb targeting, heading into the next game.

    Standing Grapples

    I would have it so you would have to start off with the front facelock. From there, you can either choose to do a regular grapple/strike in that position, or you can choose to target a different part of the body. This can be done by holding R2/RT and selecting one of the following:

    • Y/Triangle for the head, which puts them in a headlock

    • X/Square or B/Circle for the arms, which puts them in a wristlock

    • A/Cross which makes them grab their leg, as if they are countering a gut kick

    From there, you can choose to do a basic strike attack in that chosen position, for example, if the opponent it in a headlock, you can perform a punch to the head, and these strikes can be done over and over again. Additionally, you can perform a strong strike, which is basically more damage, but you can only perform once before ending the animation, like a hard forearm strike to the arm. Or, you can perform a grapple attack to your chosen part, like a dragon screw to the leg, or even a submission move.

    This new system would be perfect and more authentic for some superstars with a general style like this, such as Daniel Bryan, Timothy Thatcher and Drew Gulak. Certain transitions can also be activated by holding the grapple button and R2/RT after countering a punch or a kick, which transitions into a wristlock and a leg hold respectively.

    Additionally, you would be able to choose which limb to specifically target, by pressing X/Square or B/Circle to choose an arm, as well as holding on the stick which leg to target after transitioning.

    Standing Strikes

    If you need a quicker and easier way to damage a giant, now you can, with limb targeting strikes. This would be done by holding R2/RT and a direction on the controller (Up - Head, Left/Right - Arms, Down - Legs) whilst performing a strike. This would cause a specific attack directed towards the limb, such as a punch to the head or a kick to the arms and legs. This new feature would be great for making "David vs Goliath" battles seem more realistic, where the smaller guy uses his own skill to try and chop down the bigger man by going for the legs.

    I know in the real WWE he was often very limited and treated as a goofball, but I always loved creating carnage with him in the old WWE games like WWE 2007 and WWE 2K14. I treated him as an absolute, unstoppable force and monster. He was menacing when I controlled him!
